By Dawn Skinner, PSAC North NWT Regional Women’s Committee   Period poverty is a pervasive issue in Canada and yet many of us may ask what period poverty is. It has been called a great barrier to equality and low income, homeless and marginalized women bear the brunt of it.

It has been 30 years since the tragic mass shooting at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal (December 6, 1989) that saw the promising lives of 14 young women cut violently short. December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
