Yukon University Bargaining Update #7

To All PSAC-YEU Local Y011 Yukon University Employees Union members:

A Clear Strike Mandate for the Team

We thank all members for coming out to the strike vote sessions and casting their ballots.  We received votes from a very large proportion of our membership and have received a strike mandate.

Your bargaining team appreciates the significant support and will move forward with a clear mandate to secure a better deal for YukonU members.

What does this mean?

The strike vote is a critical message to the Employer that they need to provide us with a better offer.  We will send you an update on conciliation later this week.  Our hope is to secure a deal that is sufficient to bring out for a vote.  If we are unable to secure such a deal, we’ll be looking at our next steps.

What are we seeking?

As a reminder, we firmly believe that all PSAC members deserve

  • Fair wages that reflect that we have fallen behind other employers in the Territory, behind the Teachers’ settlement and behind the cost of living
  • Improved benefits and working conditions.

Members have clearly indicated that they want change.  We are ready to show we’re united and ready to fight for a better deal.

Let’s stand together for a fairer YukonU!
