City of Yellowknife Bargaining Update #6
We are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with the City for the main Bargaining Unit.
The bargaining team unanimously recommends ratification of the agreement.
Some Highlights of the Agreement
The agreement includes conversion to the City’s new classification system and grid, effective Jan 1, 2024. Members will be migrated after a 2.25% wage increase is applied to their December 31, 2023 wages. 2.25% will be applied to the casual rates of pay for 2024.
Jan 1, 2025- 3%
Jan 1, 2026- 3%
Jan 1, 2027- 3%
Mandatory rest periods of 8 hours
More flexible work arrangements
New leave for indigenous Cultural leave, one paid day
Additional 5 weeks of parental leave allowance
Expanded casual leave definition and hours
