For PSAC North Yukon Regional Women’s Committee, this past weekend was packed with packing and delivering!
On Saturday, September 17, the committee’s members packed 30 starter baskets that were delivered the next day to women’s shelters and transition homes in Whitehorse.
This annual project is funded by PSAC North Yukon Regional Women’s Committee and Yukon Employees Union. The committee wants to acknowledge stores that helped in ensuring that the baskets are packed with needed items: Canadian Tire offered their best sale price in the last 12 months and donated all the paper products such as toilet paper and paper towel; Great Canadian Dollar Store prepared and ordered the quantities needed; Superstore donated the pots and pan sets.
Next month, October, the committee will be preparing 20 baskets that will be donated to women’s shelters in Watson Lake and Dawson City. Volunteers are needed, and greatly appreciated, to transport and deliver the baskets. Stay tuned for more updates.
