Delegates, PSAC/UNW members working for Arctic Diamond Company, met in Calgary (May 3- 4, 2022) regarding negotiations and bargaining process. PSAC North Regional Executive Vice President Lorraine Rousseau joined the bargaining conference and shared opening remarks with a message of solidarity. Seth Sazant, PSAC negotiator, facilitated for the two days. UNW Vice President Melvin Larocque and Director Anne Marie Thistle were in attendance.
The conference included electing bargaining team members. Union members enthusiastically discussed the issues in their workplace and how they might be addressed through collective bargaining. There was a lot of interest in elections with four strong members stepping up to be part of the team. Rousseau conducted the election process, resulting in a team with a great number of years experience. The representation on the bargaining team is diverse and inclusive. Four bargaining team members and two alternates were elected.
“The bargaining team has a strong membership support,” says Rousseau. “The two days of meetings were filled with positive and meaningful discussions on representing membership’s interests and reaching a fair deal.”
The Collective Agreement expires on May 31, 2022.
