NWT Access Committee
Nothing About Us Without Us – The labour movement has always been about fighting for fairness and ensuring that no worker is left behind. We have a responsibility to amplify the voices of workers with disabilities, to fight for truly inclusive workplaces, and to make sure that accessibility and dignity are non-negotiable rights.
The purpose of the committee is to ensure that PSAC members with disabilities are given the opportunity to participate fully in their union and in their workplaces. In addition to participating in conferences, education, and training programs, and reviewing, discussing, and making recommendations on issues, policies, and strategies that affect members with disabilities, the committee represents members on the National Human Rights Committee and other PSAC National and Regional bodies
Meetings are open to all PSAC Members in Good Standing in the NWT with a disability. There is space for everyone who wants to make a difference.
Our Mandate
The PSAC NWT Access Committee promotes union actions on issues affecting members with disabilities by:
- Educating, politicizing and mobilizing members with disabilities by making links between themselves, the union, the workplace and the community.
- Empowering, uniting and engaging members with disabilities to take action and move the Human Rights agenda forward.
- Encouraging networking and open communication among members with disabilities, the PSAC National Human Rights Committee and other PSAC National/Regional bodies.
Making a Difference
Activists are the heart of our union and your involvement will help the labour movement thrive. If you want to play an integral role in guiding your union, consider getting involved with a Regional Committee and bringing your ideas to an upcoming meeting.
