TO: ALL PSAC/NEU MEMBERS AT THE HAMLET OF TALOYOAK
In the current round of bargaining across Nunavut, the settlement at Gjoa Haven was an outlier. It is one of the cheapest contracts the Union has entered into and the settlement is a one-off – not consistent with other settlements across Nunavut, as you can see for yourself from the list of recent wage increases below.
Yet the Hamlet of Taloyoak is offering its employees EVEN LESS MONEY than Gjoa Haven members are receiving.
We need to ask ourselves, why does our Hamlet want to keep our wage increases below the cost of living? What is the money other hamlets are using to pay their employees being used for in Taloyoak?
Here is the offer from the Hamlet of Taloyoak currently on the table:
Oct. 1, 2020: 1.5%
