The Bargaining Team for members at the Fort McPherson Housing Association is pleased to announce a tentative agreement has been reached.
Important gains:
- Hunting, Fishing and Harvesting has increased from 2 paid days to 5 paid days on very short notice, (cultural activities remains at 2)
- Inuvialuit members may take June 5th (Inuvialuit Day) as a Designated Paid Holiday instead of April 22nd (Giwich’in Day). National Day for Truth and Reconciliation added
- Standby pay will increase from the current $17.00 for every 8 hours on weekdays and Saturdays and $22.00 on Sundays and DPHs to:
- $25.00 and $30.00 on ratification
- $26.00 and $31.00 effective April 1, 2026
- $27.00 and $32.00 effective April 1, 2026
- Family Violence Leave now added: 5 days paid, 5 unpaid with service requirement, may be taken in part days – 15 weeks unpaid in a 52-week period – exceeds the statutory requirement
- Members now have a boot allowance – $450/2 years and Employer required to provide an additional allowance if boots destroyed through no fault of employee
- Employer now required to make winter outerwear available: parka, insulated coveralls, pants etc
- Employer now required to provide each employee working outdoors with: 2 winter gloves, 2 work gloves, 1 winter hat and replace them if destroyed through no fault of the employee
General Economic Improvements:
- 2.5% market adjustment for casual trades applied effective April 1, 2020, before GEIs
- 6% market adjustment for casual janitor applied April 1, 2020, before GEIs
April 1, 2020 – 1.25%
April 1, 2021 – 2.5%
April 1, 2022 – 3.0%
April 1, 2023 – 2.0%
April 1, 2024 – 2.0%
April 1, 2025 – 2.0%
April 1, 2026 – 2.0%
April 1, 2027 – 2.0%
Retroactive back to April 1, 2020, for all current and past employees.
The new Collective Agreement will expire on April 1, 2028.
