UNW Training Rooms, 4910-53rd Street Yellowknife NT
For members working/residing in NWT
This two day course is an introductory level course for new or active Local Officers who need to know how to run a Local. Sessions cover the role of the Local Executive; Local administration, including by-laws and budgets; effective communications and Local meetings; and how the Local can access the wider resources of the PSAC. A major theme throughout the course is the organizing model of unionism and how to put it into practice so as to build a strong union presence at the workplace.
PSAC will pay for accommodation, loss of salary and benefits (where applicable). Family care will be reimbursed as per PSAC policy. In addition, participants residing in Yellowknife are entitled to claim $50.00 dollars per day to offset the cost of transportation and lunch.
The PSAC is committed to ensuring that the accessibility requirements of our members are respected. Please indicate your needs and provide any necessary explanation that will assist us in meeting them.
Preference will be given to those acting in Local Officers positions. Remaining seats will open to other members with an interest in becoming a Local Officer should space be available.
