For almost two years PSAC members have been struggling with pay issues under the Phoenix pay system such as: no pay, incorrect pay, late pay as well as delays in providing emergency pay. This has created financial and emotional hardships for many of our members.
PSAC members across the country will be taking action to highlight the ongoing pay issues and pressure the federal government to address PSAC’s demands.
PSAC calls on the government to:
1. Step up the hiring process and permanently expand the compensation capacity both in the pay centres and in departments;
2. Recognize that damages are owed to workers impacted by Phoenix;
3. Dedicate staff to helping employees decipher their pay and figure out what they are owed;
4. Stop recoveries of emergency salary advances until employees have received the pay they are owed
5. Recover only the net pay of overpayments, instead of the gross pay;
On February 28, PSAC will be holding a National Day of Action and we are looking for your participation.
Prior to February 28, 2018, we are asking that you organize an action in your workplace. This could be a group picture with signs or statements of solidarity or any action in the workplace that could bring attention to this issue. Please contact our office to get materials developed for this Day of Action. (It’s OK to have fun with the action you choose) Please send your pictures to Iqaluit-RO-Admin@psac-afpc.com
