June 21, 2006 - Aboriginal Day in Whitehorse

On June 21, 2006 - The Yukon Area Council Acting President, Diney Williams, and the NAIM representative for the North, Lis Bosely handed out Aboriginal Day posters, stickers, and apples during the Longest Days Street Fair on Main Street.

YAC Bare Essentials YTG Campaign

Items purchased by the Yukon Area Council for the Bare Essential YTG Campaign. Sylvie Leonard spent $500 in two increments at Superstore, thereby receiving two free turkies, which she donated to a local shelter.

Make Poverty History Campaign

November 2, 2005 

PSAC-Yukon Area Council Members Diney Williams and Diane Allen, PSAC Staff Nancy Debreceini met with Member of Legislative Assembley, NDP leader Todd Hardy, as part of the Yukon lobby effort to put pressure on the Federal government to enhance aid and forgive debts from impoverished countries. On the local level, members stated ways that the Yukon territorial government could make poverty history.

 

November 10, 2005

Alex Furlong, President - Yukon Federation of Labour and Diney Williams, President - PSAC Yukon Area Council met with Larry Bagnell, Yukon Member of Parliament today to discuss actions that support the Make Poverty History Campaign. Mr. Bagnell has agreed to write Prime Minister Paul Martin supporting the actions called for by PSAC and Yukon Federation of Labour.
