October 10 is internationally observed every year as World Mental Health Day. Being officially recognized by World Health Organization (WHO), observing this day comes with the “overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.” Nationally, Mental Health Awareness Week was observed a few weeks ago, October 1-7.

The PSAC North had the pleasure of having our Pan-Territorial Union School at Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre in Whitehorse. This was our first in nine years and 48 members attended from all three territories. Four advanced union courses were offered with northern context. In addition, guest speakers enlightened us on the important issues along with a panel on reconciliation. Participants had a chance to enjoy extra-curricular activities such as cultural dance and story-telling during the reconciliation evening.

Are you committed to building stronger and broader labour and social justice movements? Do you want a better understanding of the forces that shape workers’ lives? Do you want to be part of an activist network, and build up your research and strategic planning skills? Are you an activist with a demonstrated commitment to playing a leadership role in your union and building the labour movement for the future?

If so, then the new LCC Certificate Program is for you!

The deadline to apply is October 25, 2018
