The 2017 PSAC National Equity Conferences will be held March 24 to 28, 2017 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in Toronto, under the theme "EQUALITY AT WORK.”

This event offers delegates the opportunity to participate in one or more of the five equity conferences.  In addition, space exists to explore common human rights issues and areas of intersectionality.

Delegates will be eligible to participate in workshops, caucuses, elections and resolutions debates of any of the conferences if they self-identify from the target equity group of that conference.

The 2017 Regional Women's Conference will be held prior to the National Equity Conferences in Toronto, Ontario.

To All Women that have been selected to attend the National Equity Conference:

All women attending the PSAC National Equity Conference will be automatic delegates to the PSAC North Regional Women’s Conference, which will be held on March 22-23, 2017 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.

This is an introductory course for new Local Officers who need to know how to run a Local. Sessions cover the role of the Local Executive; Local administration, including by-laws and budgets; effective communications and Local meetings; and how the Local can access the wider resources of the PSAC. A major theme throughout the course is the organizing model of unionism and how to put it into practice so as to build a strong union presence at the workplace.

Note: This course is also open to members of the Kitikmeot Region.

This course introduces an easy four-step framework for interpreting your Collective Agreement. We will practice applying the four –step interpretation method and examine cases. Using a number of case studies, we will also practice applying the collective agreement to actual workplace situations.

This year, the PSAC North Regional Health and Safety Conference will be held immediately after the PSAC National Health and Safety Conference.

This brand new two-day advanced course will provide information and better enforcement tools to PSAC Locals and Health & Safety Committees on the Canada Labour Code Part II requirements on violence prevention as well as its applicable regulations.

We are pleased to announce that the registration for the 2016 PSAC National Health and Safety Conference is now live.

The Conference will be held November 18 to 20, 2016 at Le Centre Sheraton Montréal Hotel in Montréal, Québec under the theme “Shaping a new culture for our health and safety.”

This course will take you through the basic steps of creating and maintaining respectful work environments. Together we will identify the signs of an unhealthy workplace, look at underlying factors, gain an understanding of different forms of harassment and identify concrete solutions for creating healthier working relationships. We will also examine what is meant by diversity and what measure can be used to make our workplaces more inclusive. With regard to harassment and bullying, we will look at the legal framework, policies and recourse routes.

This is an advanced two-day course with a focus on representation. You will look at various routes for engaging members in helping them resolve workplace issues. You will deepen your knowledge of the processes and legal framework of grievance handling.

We are pleased to announce the 2016 PSAC North Regional Conference for Racially Visible Members, which will be held October 15th and 16th, 2016 under the theme Race Forward: Our Union, Our Community, Our Future!”

PSAC North, in collaboration with the NWT Chapter of the Council of Canadians, is organizing a teach-in* offered by Brenda Sayers on October 13th, 5:30 p.m.

This is an opportunity for labour leaders and activists to learn about the impacts of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) on labour and public services.
