There will be a Talking Union Basics introductory course in Watson Lake on Friday April 20 and Saturday, April 21. 

The course will take place at the Morgan Chaddock Recreation Centre - Curling Lounge from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. 

The registration deadline is April 18 and is open to Watson Lake members.

This course is open to all members in Kivalliq Region. This training is a must for stewards and other workplace representatives, or members who want to use the acquired knowledge and skills to solve problems in the workplace. You will find out what the law says about grievances, grievors and their representatives, and the protections built in for those who choose to use the grievance procedure to solve problems.

There will be a PSAC North Regional Council Meeting - Teleconference on Wednesday, April 18.

The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. (MDT),  4:30 p.m. (PDT), and  7:30 p.m. (EDT).

There will be a PSAC North NWT Regional Women's Committee Meeting in Yellowknife on Tuesday April 17. 

The meeting will take place in the PSAC Boardroom at #201A North Star Building, 4910 53rd Street from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. 

This course is open to all members in Baffin Region. There will be a Duty to Accommodate course on Friday, Apr. 13 and Saturday, Apr. 14, 2018.

The two-day course will take place in Whitehorse and is a pre-requisite for Advanced Duty to Accommodate.

There will be a PSAC North NWT Area Council Meeting on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.

The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the PSAC Boardroom in the North Star Building at Suite #201A 4910 53rd Street.

There will be a GNWT Employee Strike Vote Meeting in Yellowknife on March 27. 

Voting will take place at the Union of Northern Workers North Star Buildling at 4910-53 St at the following times:

  • 10 am
  • Noon
  • 5:15 p.m.
  • 6:45 p.m.

PSAC has scheduled training for pay advocates, normally local officers or stewards, that have been assisting members with Phoenix issues.  However, this training is offered to anyone who is interested and engaging for the first time in their union. This training will provide information and training on tools specifically for assisting those with pay issues.  It will also provide information on our key objectives in pressuring the government to address and resolve Phoenix. 

 Objectives of the 1-day course include:

Our Parks bargaining team reached a tentative agreement with the Agency February 16, 2018, which the team unanimously recommends. The Public Service Alliance of Canada will be holding an electronic vote for members of the Parks Canada Agency to ratify the tentative agreement between PSAC and Parks Canada.

Meetings will be held by teleconference and/or webinar for all members in Nunavut.

As per Regulation 15 of the PSAC Constitution, all members must attend a meeting – either by teleconference or webinar – in order to cast a vote.

There will be a PSAC North Yukon Regional Area Council - Special Meeting on Thursday, March 22. 

The meeting will take place at the PSAC/YEU – Lucy Jackson Training Room at 5:30 p.m.

United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination 21 March 2018 Theme: Promoting tolerance, inclusion, unity and respect for diversity in the context of combating racial discrimination

There will be a Nunavut Area Council meeting on Monday, March 19. 

The meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. EST at the PSAC Regional Office.

This course is open to all members in Kivalliq Region. This is the union’s key “introductory” course. If you have wondered what it means to be a union member, how the PSAC works, and what happens to your dues dollars, then Talking Union Basics provides answers to these questions. The course also introduces the collective agreement, your employee rights and your rights as a member of the PSAC. You will learn about the many opportunities to be active in the union and ways you can make a contribution to building strong locals in your region.
