PSAC North is proud to offer members a union education program that ranks among the best and most comprehensive in Canada.

We provide members with learning opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, and personal confidence. Union education encourages participation and promotes mutual respect and understanding between members and the union leadership. The PSAC's Union Development Program (UDP) has been one of the most comprehensive union leadership training programs in Canada for more than 35 years. This program provide an advanced learning opportunity for emerging leaders to develop the necessary analysis and skills to identify and support union priorities, and to expand our pool of skilled activists who can inspire others. Are you passionate about standing up for unions and workers’ rights? Do you believe in fairness, social justice and human rights?

This Labour Day, we celebrate the power of our solidarity. PSAC has achieved some important wins this past year, which were the result of sustained member activism. Last October, the decade of Harper Conservative rule came to an end. Our members came together and mobilized against the Conservatives’ irresponsible cuts to Canada’s public services. We have been promised respect from the new Prime Minister, and we intend to hold him to his promise.

By Jack Bourassa, Regional Executive Vice President for the North As published in the Yellowknifer, July 2016 We would never move. Maybe inland, but never too far, my Inuvialuit friend says, with a firm certainty in her smile. I’m learning from her about environmental issues in Tuktoyaktuk in preparation for the Climate Change Townhall recently held by the federal government in Yellowknife.

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau: Re: Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers I write today on behalf of the Public Service Alliance of Canada North Region and our 13,000 members in Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Despite the fact that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) had stated that they were to continue negotiations and would like to reach a fair negotiated agreement, Canada Post management threatens to lock union members out as early as Monday July 11th and refuses to bargain in a meaningful way.
June 9, 2016 - 3:10pm •
On June 8, members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) who work with Treasury Board mobilized to demand a quick and fair resolution to contract negotiations with their employers and to support their bargaining teams. In a show of solidarity, federal workers attended events organized by PSAC across Canada and called on the Liberal Government to keep their promise of respect and fairness in the current round of collective bargaining.
June 9, 2016 - 2:56pm •
June 8th was a Day of Action for the Federal Public Service union members. Our members in the North and across the country were successful in sending out a strong message to the federal government that they want fair bargaining and respect. By Jack Bourassa, Regional Executive Vice President for the North As published in the Yellowknifer, June 2016  ‘Liberals will create clean jobs, grow our economy, and protect our environment’, boldly claims the 2015 Liberal platform document, next to a photo of young Justin canoeing with senior Trudeau – presumably to show his yet unconscious appreciation of the great Canadian outdoors.

More and more Northerners are turning to food banks to sustain themselves. PSAC North has pledged to assist food banks and the families they support through the Healthy Apple Campaign. How it works It’s as easy as one, two, three! 1.      Local food banks inform PSAC volunteers what food items they need. 2.      PSAC volunteers label those items on grocery store shelves. 3.      Shoppers pick up labeled food items and donate them to the food bank. How you can help Volunteer
