We provide members with learning opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, and personal confidence. Union education encourages participation and promotes mutual respect and understanding between members and the union leadership. The PSAC North 6th Triennial Convention will be held June 6, 7, 8, 2014 at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre in Whitehorse under the theme Our Strength: Mobilizing and Fighting Back.

Watch this space for the Convention agenda, rules of order, PSAC North by-laws, proposed resolutions, and other important documents. We will post them here as soon as they become available.

*Please note that the PSAC North Regional Health and Safety Conference will be held on the first day of the PSAC North Convention on June 6, 2014.

Reminder: We are conducting a survey to find out our delegates' basic knowledge of Health and Safety issues in their workplace leading up to the Regional Health and Safety Conference in Whitehorse, YK June 6.

Your response would be greatly appreciated and will help PSAC North tailor our course to the needs of our membership.

This is the official call for nominations for the position of Regional Executive Vice-President and Alternate Regional Executive Vice-President for the PSAC North region. Elections for these positions will be held at the PSAC North 6th Triennial Convention on Sunday June 8, 2014.

Devolution Northwest Territories

A heated meeting to debate the merits of devolution in the northwest Territories brought in a full crowd at the Explorer Hotel.  Those in favour of handing over control of Crown land and resources over to the territory were happy to see the government move in this promising new direction, but were against the idea of having one super board control the assets, arguing it won't benefit the region.  Here's a summary of the hearing, along with a poignant article in the Yellowknifer concerning the hearing.
